In the midst of extraordinary circumstances, we are comforted by the ordinary. With Christmas only one week away I decided to embrace the spirit of the holiday and not miss one bit of it. My spirit seems to have gone missing but the three munchkins have it and they are ready.

They have written their lists. stamped and addressed to Santa. We had some last minute changes and a request for a mouse (ickkk…) but we all know Santa can’t transport live animals in his big bag, they would get squished.

We went to see Santa at the Mall and waited patiently for 1h 40 minutes to say hi and take a pictures. I was so ready to give up but I felt SO lucky they still wholeheartedly embrace the magic of this holiday.  Of  COURSE santa is REAL!!!   and they all absolutely wanted to see him.

In order to tame the old grinch in me and fully embrace the spirit . This next week will be full of holiday magic. On the list

  • A visit to the big city to see the “big” tree and maybe visit Santa at Macy’s
  • Gingerbread house making
  • A message from Santa
  • Salt Dough ornaments
  • Buy ornaments each child gets to pick one and one for all of us
  • Cinnamon Spice ornament
  • Make our Happy New Year card.
  • Watch the Polar Express

What’s on your list?

  1. Lets see, we’ve watched a bunch of the specials on tv, the boys saw Polar Express at a function, we attended the extended famiky shindig, and the tree and stockings are up. To do includes making reindeer food (oats and glitter,) decorating cookies, visiting the zoo’s “Wildlights” and drinking lots of cocoa. Also we are going to a cabin in the woods right after Christmas for a little winter hiking. Merry Christmas!
