Captured moments

I so often look for meaning and beauty in my pictures that I forget to capture the little moments. My sister dressing our Barbie collection with both our daughters around us. Remembering my favorite doll, my Oscar de La Renta evening gown, the twin barbies…

More than dolls, memories tucked away by my mother for more than 20 years hoping for grand-daughters that would some day play with them.

Most families have years to build memories and bonds but being a family of expats we only have a couple of weeks a year to fill our treasure trove of moments. They are all the more precious.

I have shied away from looking at my pictures or posting on the blog. Saving it for when I would be back home to savor them. Tomorrow we will be on our way home and I see lots of laundry and editing in my future.

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others
